The route of Elevador da Bica

Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo, called simply Bica by the locals, is the main route of the Elevador da Bica, and is widely considered the heart of the Bica neighborhood. It is lined up with tiny boutiques, specialty shops and grocery stores, and offers and excellent glimpse into the local lifestyle.

Elevador da Bica climbs Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo 245 metres (804 ft) from Rua de S. Paulo. The lower station of the funicular is almost hidden behind a facade on Rua de S. Paulo with the inscription "Ascensor da Bica."
