Description

Historic palace with statues

Palácio Palmela was designed by the architect, Manuel Caetano de Sousa. In there are two white marble statues sculpted by the famous French sculptor Guillaume. One of the statues is called "Motherhood," the other is called "Sorrow."

Palácio Palmela was originally built in 1792. It was owned by members of the family of the Dukes of Palmela until 1977, at which time it became a Portuguese government office. Today it houses the office of the Attorney General.
