The Museu de Marinha takes visitors back to the Age of Discoveries with its collection of model ships, cannonballs, and artifacts from shipwrecks. Among the artifacts are Vasco da Gama's portable wooden altar, 17th-century globes that don't show Australia, and the ornate private quarters of the UK-built Amélia royal yacht. There's also a separate building with royal barges, 19th-century firefighting machines, and seaplanes.
