Portuguese museum dedicated to geology and to archeology

The origins of the Geological Museum (Museu Geológico) date from the Geological Survey of 1857. The museum has four exhibit halls. Inside these exhibit halls you will find fossils, minerals, and archaeological pieces dating to prehistoric times.

Geological Museum (Museu Geológico)is located in Bairro Alto. Much of the museum has remained unchanged since the 19th century. Visiting it affords one a peek at how museums used to be organized. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.
