Former weapons plant wins the culture wars

A derelict armaments factory in eastern Lisbon has blossomed into the city's most happening venue. Founded by two booksellers who for years staged debates, exhibitions and concerts in cramped premises in the Bairro Alto, the huge Fábrica de Braço de Prata hosts numerous events in its myriad spaces and has a bookshop, cinema, restaurant, bars and plenty of parking.
