Description

The majestic sight of the Basílica da Estrela, with its curvaceous, sugar-white dome and twin belfries, can be seen from a distance. Inside, the resounding ambiance is combined with a mesmerizing mosaic of pink-and-black marble, providing a kaleidoscopic view of the cupola. Built in 1790 by Dona Maria I, who is also buried here, this neoclassical beauty was created as a token of appreciation for the Queen's long-awaited male heir.
