- Elevador de Santa Justa
Description
Raul Mésnier, who was an apprentice of Gustave Eiffel, constructed Lisbon's one and only vertical street lift, the lanky, wrought-iron Elevador de Santa Justa. This neo-Gothic marvel dates back to 1902, when it was steam-powered, and continued until 1907. To fully enjoy its beauty and the breathtaking views of Lisbon from the top, arrive early and beat the crowds.
