Dom Pedro IV Statue is a historic monument located in the center of Rossio Square. The marble statue was originally erected in 1870. It stands 75 feet tall. Dom Pedro fled Napoleon with the royal family in 1807 to Brazil. He remained in Brazil and became the ruler there.
Dom Pedro IV Statue has four figures sculpted on the bottom which represent Justice, Wisdom, Courage and Restraint. The statue of Dom Pedro himself is at the top of the monument.
