Historic neighborhood with outstanding landmarks

Belém, the area surrounding the famous local landmark Torre de Belém, used to be an autonomous municipality between 1852 and 1885. Today, it is just a neighborhood of Lisbon, however interesting for visitors for its many attractions.

Belém boasts several museums, parks and gardens, and a beautiful riverside promenade, with walkways and cafes. Attractions and landmarks in the area include Monasterio de los Jerónimos de Belém, Centro Cultural de Belém, Central Tejo, Jardín Botánico de la Ayuda, and others.
